La realidad es que ni siquiera Dios puede arreglar lo que por tantos años dañaron y acabaron las élites políticas. A la sabana de Bogotá le pavimentaron sus humedales e hicieron una segunda pista de El Dorado en uno de ellos; el Canal del Dique quedó mal construido desde el principio y esta es la segunda vez en su historia que se desborda; al río Sinú le cambiaron el cauce para abrirle paso a la represa de Urrá, un megaproyecto que es el culpable del desajuste natural y social de consecuencias incalculables que se vive desde entonces en esa región. La pesca del bocachico se extinguió, se desplazó a la población campesina y la comunidad indígena de los emberá-katíos, que nunca se resignó a perder sus tierras, fue perseguida y sus líderes fueron asesinados por los paramilitares de Mancuso y Carlos Castaño. El propósito por el cual fue hecho el megaproyecto, que era la necesidad de generar energía para la costa, no se cumplió -Urrá solo genera el 3 por ciento de la energía que se consume a nivel nacional-, y en lugar de que las inundaciones se controlaran, lo que se produjo fue un cambio profundo en el ecosistema que fue desecando las ciénagas, las cuales, a su vez, fueron cooptadas por terratenientes para extender sus fincas. Para trancar las aguas, construyeron en esas ciénagas desecadas unos poderosos camellones que hoy han sido desbordados y destruidos por la furia de las aguas. Las poblaciones campesinas e indígenas desplazadas terminaron rebuscándose su nueva vida en los barrios marginales de Montería, que hoy son los primeros que se han inundado. La única que se benefició con la represa de Urrá fue la clase política terrateniente de la costa, que promovió el proyecto hasta salirse con la suya. Revisando los nombres de esa Comisión Quinta que aprobó la represa de Urrá, encontré que muchos de ellos están hoy tras las rejas, acusados de ser colaboradores de los grupos paramilitares, como es el caso de Jaime Manzur y Mario Uribe.
